Designing the landscape for the Peake's Residence was a gratifying endeavor that involved fulfilling a long-awaited vision for a complete transformation. The Peake family's patience and anticipation were met with a comprehensive overhaul aimed at accentuating the inherent natural beauty of their property. Nestled on the bluffs of Smith Lake, their residence occupies a sizable and densely wooded lot, providing a canvas rich with potential.
Collaborating closely with the Peakes, we devised a design that harmonized with the wooded essence of their property, a decision that aligned seamlessly with their aspirations. By embracing the site's wooded character, our design sought to spotlight native plantings while seamlessly integrating ornamental species. Species such as fothergilla, rudbeckia, magnolias, inkberry, and coral bells were thoughtfully curated to form a diverse plant palette, blending seamlessly with the property's existing vegetation.
The design journey extended beyond the realm of aesthetics, as it prioritized creating distinct spatial experiences across various zones of the property. Central to our vision were moments that celebrated the intrinsic beauty of the landscape. These moments manifested as the side kitchen garden, a tranquil glade on the slope of the backyard, and the welcoming plantings lining the front entry drive. Each of these zones was carefully orchestrated to evoke unique emotions and spatial connections, enhancing the overall narrative of the landscape.
The Peake's Residence project stands as a testament to how collaboration and an intimate understanding of the site can yield remarkable results. By embracing the site's wooded nature and weaving in a blend of native and ornamental plantings, we achieved a design that not only celebrated the existing beauty of the property but also crafted distinctive pockets of enchantment for the Peake family to savor for years to come.
